After having four girls, Mammy had two boys, her last baby was born with Downs Syndrome. This was in 1978, the days when Doctors recommended “institutions” but this wasn’t an option for his Mama and Daddy! How can you not love this sweet face?
It was his older sister, Debra’s, birthday and Mammy was busy getting things ready for her party BUT God had other plans for that day! Guy wanted the attention, as usual, and off to the hospital they went! Not everything was joyful and the trials that come with a baby born with a disability, needing heart surgery and learning everything at a slower pace, but God gave him the most loving parents and a bunch of doting siblings.

“Dance with me, Mom”
How do you seem to know, do you feel me, how do you seem to know? When in the depths of the darkness of depression you stand there with your hand held out to me, a country song is playing, you say “Dance with me mom,” and I do. How many times have you saved me? How many times to come? Without you, I’d be lost in this prevailing darkness that licks at my heels daily. I ask myself, who are you, really? Are you an angel, a young man I call Guy? How do you seem to know? Do you feel me, how do you seem to know? Please don’t ever stop holding out your hand to me… “Dance with me Mom”…and I do…

Your loving and grateful Mom. *Ann McDowell August 2004

Two souls, joined together for eternity.
She took care of him, and he took care of her…

“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be NO MORE PAIN…” Revelation 21:4 NKJV

On his way home from the hospital after a terrible fall, being brought back to life, stomach surgery and a long week of no eating… He’s the strongest “Guy” I know!
“Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.” Jeremiah 17:14 NIV

Most recently Guy has lost so much weight and he’s so healthy!
Thank you Jesus!
